Getting out of debt might seem like it is a waste of your time or it might seem impossible. Making the decision it regain control of your finances is a big one. You are in for a rough, bumpy, and stressful ride. The one thing you don't want to do is give up because then you'll never be out of debt. To help ensure that doesn't happen, please keep reading on for a few ideas on how you can get or stay motivated.

* Shout It From the Rooftops: Okay, you might not literally want to do this but why not try something similar? After paying your credit card companies a percentage of the bill or after cutting your monthly check to your debt relief company, haven't you been excited? Even if you were only paying $200 towards your $20,000 that is and should still be a huge deal. Why not celebrate it? It will make you feel good and it can act as a source of motivation. So shut the doors, shut the windows, and yell "I just made a payment!"

* To-Do List on Fridge: We all have to-do lists. Your list might include walking an hour on the treadmill, painting the fence out front, running to the grocery store, and so forth. Regardless of what is on that list, doesn't it feel good when you are able to cross something off? It sure does feel good. It can also serve as a source of motivation too. So let's say that you have a $150 payment that you must make to your debt relief company each month. Print out a list of all the payments you need to make that year. You will see $150 twelve times. Each month you mail out that check, cross it off your list. Be sure to keep this list somewhere that you can see it and feel proud, so that it will act as a source of motivation.

* Keep a Running Total: This might be a little hard to do at first. Say that you owe $50,000 right now. That is a lot of money and it can be a little depressing to see that money in actual print. However, the running total is what will provide you with a source of motivation. Print in large letters the amount of debt you owe right now. Leave the rest of the paper blank and place it on your fridge or somewhere else where you'll see it. Then, each month you make a payment, adjust your total. It will be exciting and serve as a source of motivation each time you see that total getting lower and lower.

Now, the debt relief motivation tips shared above might not see like a big deal. With that said, they can provide you with pride, excitement, and motivation. These are all three important keys to not only getting out of debt, but seeking permanent debt relief. Good luck!

If you are over $10,000 in unsecured debt you really should consider getting a debt settlement. Creditors of unsecured debt are fearful of collecting and they also have stimulus money to make debt settlements financially feasible for them. Once the economy turns around it will be too late to eliminate your debt.
